We are thrilled to announce that we have just acquired a new novel from Paul Cornell—Chalk.
Cornell is well known for his work writing urban fantasy (London Falling, The Severed Streets), comics (This Damned Band, Wolverine, Action Comics) and for his television work (Doctor Who, Pulse, Primeval). And, of course, for his previous novella with Tor.com, Witches of Lychford.
Chalk is something else, entirely.
Paul said, “I’m delighted that a book that’s been such a labour of love for me, a book that’s incredibly personal, has found such a great home. This is the novel I’ve always wanted to get into print, and now it’s going to be, and I couldn’t be happier. I finally got to let this particular truth out into the world.”
Tor.com’s senior editor, Lee Harris, said, “Chalk is like nothing of Paul’s you’ve ever read. It’s the story of schoolyard bullying, of retribution and the nature of forgiveness. It’s brutal, it’s relentless, it’s beautiful, and I think it’s the best thing he’s ever written. And now I want to go and read it, again.”
Chalk was acquired by Lee Harris from Stacia Decker at the Donald Maass Literary Agency, and will be published in late 2016 or early 2017.
